Andrew Michael Manos was found guilty of manslaughter on Friday. He faces 30 years in prison when he is sentenced on July 18.
The six jurors deliberated for nearly 10 hours before reaching their unanimous verdict.
Manos stabbed 52-year-old William Lewis Flanders III 15 times the night of July 24, 2001 and dumped it off a bridge into the Intracoastal Waterway near St. Augustine. Manos' attorney argued that Flanders was responsible for his own death because he taunted the much smaller boy, then 17.
Manos weighed 135 pounds at the time. The defense attorney referred to the autopsy of Flanders that showed his blood alcohol level at 0.27, more than three times the legal limit for intoxication if driving.
The report showed Flanders also had a large quantity of prescription drugs in his system.
Manos' mother, Amy Jo Flanders, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact, accused not only of dumping the body, but also filing a missing person's report with her son. She will be tried at a later date.
