The Department of Children and Families is seeing a dramatic increase in the number of missing kids.

Since December, the total number of missing children under D.C.F.'s care has jumped from about 300 to 500.

D.C.F. and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement say they are working more proactively to find the missing kids.

A D.C.F. spokesman says the number of missing kids is increasing as more people move to Florida and also because school is out.
